- Philippians 4:19
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
- Luke 6:38
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall man give into your bosom. For the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
- Malachi 3:10
“Bring ye all of the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now wherewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall be room enough to receive it.”
- Philippians 4:6
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
- Luke 6:20
“And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.”
- Ecclesiastes 2:26
“For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may giveth to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.”
- Mathew 6:31-33
“Therefor take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) For your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ya first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; all these thing shall be added unto you.”
After reading these scriptures, and many others, on the theme of going without or being in need, I have realized that before we ask God for more, we have to first ask ourselves why we are in our current position. Never forget that he knows what we need more than we ever will. He says blessed are the poor, he says he will provide all you need, he says take no though in what you will eat or drink or wear, but seek first the kingdom of heaven.
If you follow his words, if you believe what he says is true, then you will not go without the things you need to sustain yourself, and most likely, you will live a very blessed life. But, he also says that he will not pour you out a blessing if there is no room to receive it, meaning if you will not need and appreciate it! Be careful to ask god for only what you need and never forget to be thankful for what you have, because there is always someone surviving on less. At the end of the day it is up to us to work hard and provide for ourselves and our family, but God is always there to uplift you.
I personally have overcome hard times with the help of God. Looking back on a time in my family’s lives when we didn’t have enough income to even pay all of our bills, I realize that without God by our side we would have never made it, but we did! We lived within our means, which was not ideal, but after over two years of struggling, we caught a break, and with lots of hard work and faith in him we now have a lovely home, two reliable vehicles, and more than enough money to take care of our monthly needs. It may not sound like a lot to some to but I thank God for how far he has brought us financially and spiritually every day. I truly owe it all to him! I believe God will do the very same thing for anyone willing to give him their trust and put in hard work to accomplish their goals.
